Slav steps up striker hunt

|

JackjnrThe Hammers remain in the market for a striker and midfielder.

With just a fortnight left of the current window, co owner David Sullivan’s youngest son Jack has assured fans the spending is not over.

Supporters have become more an more vociferous on the social networks as the club has failed to add the long sought striker to their ranks.

With Enner Valencia now facing possible surgery the need is becoming more and more pressing and ClaretandHugh was told the club is stepping up it’s hunt for a top front man this week.

A source told us: “Names such as Adebayor and Hernandez are on the list of targets and we need to get something sorted out before window closes. The manager continues to look at the options available to him.”

Meanwhile Sullivan jnr tweeted: “We are not done in the transfer window! We are hoping to sign a striker and a midfielder.”

We need a winger with pace and a striker this week ahead of a holding midfielder.

Lost width [Downing]Pace[Valencia]Heading[Carroll] Midfield class[Song] brought in some talented players but two more in will need to be top drawer to cover losses temporary and permanent.

I think the most telling thing here is the use of the term ‘hopeful’.
Am waiting for the ‘don’t go to bed’ statement again, and finding out that we’ve re-signed Carlton, again.

I heard today not sure if its true or not that Carlton Cole has actually been working at West Ham in a coaching capacity, could well have been a wind up but where CC is concerned he seems to always come back so who knows.

  • Richie says:

I think we could do with a Moses type player also. He would be good away from home on the counter and be an excellent choice off the bench at home.

  • wazza says:

Hernandez/Austin and Song, I’d be happy… I believe we have width with Jenkinson and Cresswell…

  • bubs says:

I think a player like Moses is the most important signing with Carroll just a couple weeks away and then Valencia coming back before Xmas,
We still need a forward but we missed a trick when Swansea got Ayew maybe a bid for Montero and a small offer for Mitchu £2 million,I know he has had injuries but so has Austin
And it looke like we will only be playing 1 up top

  • Simple The Best says:

I really am at a lose with all these injury claims about Austin. He failed a medical, ment to have a dodgy knee, yet he has averged 37 games a season for the last four seasons.Stats we could only dream about with Carroll, lol

  • jaybs says:

Get Austin signed and not sit on the fence hoping no one else signs him, and we may get a fire sale offer from them on deadline day, I feel sure they will take a player exchange and cash.

Slav. Still hasn’t given the slightest hint yet ( by his words or actions ) that he does or ever has, seen a striker as his top priority and certainly not a big money one. His only reference to signing another striker has been, “only if he fits our needs and he’s a freebie or a good price”
Hernandez he virtually wrote of in the last couple of days, saying there’s to many complications but I doubt we were ever serious about him anyway, especially when
He made a remark about our limited budget as against the top teams.

‘hoping to sign’. I hope to win the lottery. Get the deal done. Yes, we all know it takes time, but even before Enner got injured were light up front. If AC breaks fiwn and Sakho foes a hamstring wer’e stuffed.
Spurs wont sell to us, so Adebayor is out. Utd want Chicarito. We allegedly dont want Yilmaz. Austin has a knee isdue that could go at any time…sccording to rumours…unles s yhats just to bring the price down.
Bilic is showing intent by filling the squad with loads of central mids. If we had a striker on tje bench we’d have got at least a draw Saturday
