Slaven Bilic has had the most immediate effect possible on his beloved West Ham but insists his feet are still firmly on the ground after the win over Chelsea.
And he declared boldly: “After the Palace game I was happier. Ok this is at home, against the champions blah blah blah. But we are gaining confidence and we will be ready for anything.
“We also need to know how to react when we lose a game, we need the confidence to produce that on the pitch.
“We need to know we have to the basics and move on to Watford now and with a bit of luck we have a chance against any team.
“I genuinely don’t think about where we can finish. I am good at mathematics but what is the point in doing calculations, which changes your approach.
“We then say oh we can get a point against Watford, put five at the back, no way!
“We want to continue with the same aggression and positivity with momentum in the next one. It is about good training, good tactics and individual class.
“If we can maintain or improve, we have a chance against any team, if we drop five per cent, if you are not in overdrive then it is all gone.”
A total 180 degree turn from the bloke now chewing gum up in Sunderland and respecting the draw
Great thiking. A proper outlook and assessment.
