Tottenham might find themselves relying on a favour from West Ham to secure Champions League qualification this season, although Spurs defender Micky Van de Ven seems unwilling to acknowledge that possibility.
When questioned about the intricacies of UEFA coefficient points and the potential significance of fifth place, Van de Ven responded, “We’re not focusing on fifth. We want to be fourth or even higher. We just want to ensure that we don’t have to worry about the standings at the end of the season.”
Currently, Italy leads the coefficient rankings, but the race for the second bonus Champions League qualification spot is primarily between England and Germany, with Germany currently holding the advantage.
While Van de Ven denies any intention of following West Ham’s upcoming Europa League clash with Bayer Leverkusen closely, he acknowledges the significance of the Hammers quarter-final match for Tottenham.
“We’ll keep an eye on it, but it’s not like I’ll be rooting for West Ham. We just aim to secure a position that guarantees Champions League football next year,” he added.
However, there’s another scenario that hasn’t been widely consideredâperhaps West Ham wins the Europa League, securing an additional Champions League spot for ourselves . . . Stubborn Micky definitely won’t be cheering for that outcome.
Spurs can go and fâk themselves we will do what needs to be done to win the Europa League if we fail it wonât be for the want of trying we will also be doing what ever we can to finish as high as we can in the premier league as for spurs now they have moved into fourth place they think they are champion league certainty for next season Aston Villa may have other ideas should spurs qualify for the champions league they wonât go far they will be out in the first round COYI
I’m sure West Ham fans won’t give a stuff what Mickey Van der whatsisname thinks
