Sullivan on Moyes ‘This is a gamble’

|

davidsullivan_726West Ham Joint Chairman David Sullivan has told the Sun newspaper that the appointment of David Moyes is a gamble.

DS told the tabloid “This is a gamble but let’s see where we are at the end of the season. I believe he will keep us up.

“I have promised him nobody else has been lined up, that we have not signed another manager for next season.

“This is his job and he has to grab it. It is a big chance for him.

“You don’t do what he did at Everton for ten years and become a bad manager — he is a good manager.

David Moyes added “I’m hungry to make sure I get things right now.

“I don’t know any manager who hasn’t gone through negative periods. I hope it gives me great strength and understanding of what is required.”

But it’s a positive one , if that makes sense . It would have been a far bigger gamble to continue with SB imo . COY Hammers .

    • JRS says:

Agreed Kevin. & w the fixtures only getting harger & the newly promoted 3 look all like staying up we had to make a change I love Slav as person but he had lost it he needed to go for himself too.
But we had to change & backrrom staff too can only get better

“This is a gamble but let’s see where we are at the end of the season”. Doesn’t exactly inspire confidence Dave. I’m amazed you can be so care free with the club’s future.

  • Hammer64 says:

I agree Soto. Even if he thinks that it might be better to leave it unsaid. Especially when they know so many fans are not happy with their choice. If they view it as a gamble why did they not go for Big Sam? Whatever his faults nobody has ever said you are taking a gamble with him. Sometimes I think they are not too bothered about relegation.

    • JRS says:

Agreed Soto & 64 should prob just not said we can see w Contract. But also know that a lot of candidates wouldn’t move until summer during mid season in a job.
But I’m feeling positive about Moyes he needs this will give it his all. New Backroom staff.
Sullivan can come of the wrong way while some owners like Roman you never here from might be best that way.

DS is a joke. One minute he is a quality manager the next he is a gamble.

😂😂 sully !! You are a brain dead walking disaster !! Ffs shut the fek up lofl! 😕
That’s why nobody wanted the job ! 😤

  • claret says:

The reason Big Sam did not get the job it was reported he wanted 8 million a year
So I could not see the owners offering that especially after all the aggravation that would come their way from the fans. The fault is with the two David’s it was obviouse
Last season that Slaven was not the man for the job they should have sacked him at the end of last season when there were more & better candidates available for the job.
But the two David’s dithered and their best chance to get a really good manager & move the club forward has been lost. I do not understand Gold’s statement that there is not a lot of money available for January transfers, I thought the clubs net spend in the summer ( after the various personnel was sold) was 10 million so how does that equate with the Sullivans comments when they moved stadiums it would take the club to the next level if they are not going to provide the money to buy good players.
