CandH Exclusive: Sullivan knocks back takeover talk

CandH Exclusive By Hughie Southon

David Sullivan has told Claret and Hugh there is really no chance of a West Ham takeover following revelations that joint chair Vanessa Gold is putting up some shares for sale.

Admitting he had first refusal on part of them he told us exclusively:“Yes, I have first refusal in part on some of the shares  but we are all very happy working as partners .”

Sky Sports believe that 10 per cent of the 25 per cent held by the late David Gold will go on the market but it could actually be as few as eight per cent which were placed in Trust.

Vanessa has revealed that she has appointed Rothschild & Co to advise us on any discussions and will keep the other shareholders, the Club and our supporters updated on any significant developments.

Whether it is eight or 10 per cent will make little difference to the situation at the club where there is no overall control with Sullivan agreeing to that being the situation.

Were Sullivan to gain control  he would need around another 13 per cent which can’t happen and no more than 10 per cent are available.
