Supporters sanctioned for selling away tickets online

|

There have been several reports that at least two West Ham supporters have been banned from buying tickets after being caught selling tickets illegally online via Twitter.

A Club insider has since told Claret and Hugh that there is no new change in policy and they believe they have a duty to act when complaints are made to them about the sale of away tickets on social media.

Claims that an OSB ticketing subgroup is behind the recent bans were also dismissed as no change of policy was discussed at the meeting.

Members of the OSB subgroup did lobby the club for a legal way for supporters to either return or sell away tickets in line with available schemes for home tickets.

The insider described the recent bans as ‘business as usual’ with a small number of supporters receiving club sanctions over the past year including one bondholder.

The nature of the bans seems unclear at this stage with the supporters suggesting they received phone calls from the ticket office while stadium bans are usually notified by a formal letter from the club.
