Thank you Oggy !

There is a lovely story about Angelo Ogbanna doing the rounds at the moment, in the light of him signing a new one year extension on his contract.

He seems to have been around forever, indeed he is one of only three players left at West Ham who have played at the Boleyn Ground – the others being Aaron Cresswell and Mikhail Antonio.

He came to the club in July 2015, on a four-year contract, for €11 million.

He hardly made the most auspicious debut as he netted a wonderful header but sadly at the wrong end in that Europa League qualifying round game against our Romanian bogey side Astra Giurgiu.

He had to wait until February of the following year to score his first goal for the club, netting an injury-time match-winning header in the 121st minute of a 2–1 home win over Liverpool, in the fourth round FA Cup replay.

In an injury hit career with the Irons, the now 35 year old has now played in 232 games and scored 13 goals.

Anyway I digress, this is what he had to say to the West Ham official site

“I can never really put into words what West Ham means to me,”

“This is the Club where I grew up and became a man. This is the Club where I’ve seen my children growing up. This is the Club which saw me leave my home country for the first time and experience living away from Italy, being here with my wife, and everyone welcomed us to east London with open arms.

“That is why, whenever I talk about this Club, I feel so emotional.”

You really are a top man, Oggy !
