The case against Moyes

Time after time David Moyes has shown that he is the poorest judge of a forward and offensive tactics to ever manage a top flight club .

He continually tries to force very round pegs into very round holes. Two seasons without a goal scorer and a string of expensive proven goal scorers who never get started at the Hammers but move on and suddenly become prolific .

Cornet – barely used

If ever there was a time for an athletic youngster (Divin Mubama?) to chase and harry,  last night was that time but the bench was bare  Even then Moyes had a choice of Ings … goal poacher ( fox in the box ) or Cornet. When Mikey went off having run himself into the ground Moyes brought on Ings .

At that time the Hammers had only had two touches inside City box and what was needed was a player to put the defenders under a little pressure .

What we got was an unfit goal hanger who has no hold up or harassing ability immediately giving  away the second goal and with it the game.

Ings is totally unsuitable as a goal scorer in Moyes set up and we do not have the players to make the chances in the box that he needs. Arnautovic and Antonio – athletic guys are his preference, so why Ings?

Our squad has excellent quality but no manager. Moyes has 600 plus games behind him  but during that period has won nothing .

He has had a couple of seasons where the players are able to make an impression because of their ability.

Moyes has not brought through a single youngster and has ruined at least three top level strikers. Even If we survive he must be asked to move on .

Once again i start by agreeing with previous comments, this time by Billy. He did a great job for two years when he started second spell here. With hindsight it appears that was because he had such a smally squad he couldnt get them playing out of position very often. As soon as he started buyinbg his own players he wanted them in different positions or system to that they had got used to in previous clubs. The biggest error was to take 2 or 3 centre forwards and get them to change from a ‘pair or more’ to a sole striker which is not easy and obviously not revealed to the player when buying. He needed extra players with the league and Euro games and bought them in the summer, what a TOTAL catastrophy. Withoiut a change of manager we will definitely lose the youngsters who are getting amazing results but are not impressed with the odd game in the squad (but certainly not playing. I bet Areola is pleased he signed a permanent contract!!!!. A very despondant VERY senior TV supporter lucky enough to have started with Kenny Brown, Greenwood etc. Regards Mibatch

    So true.

It’s actually embarrassing to have a manager as tactically inept as him and a board so short sighted.

  • Browzer 19 says:

Agree completely, Moyes is tactically bankrupt, way out of his depth in the current premier league…..

  • Trueiron says:

Summed it up perfectly. And some fans think Moyes should stay on !

Spot on here. Every man and his dog knew Ings would not work with the way he sets his teams up. Watching him put through against Alisson was painful against Liverpool, he chased it down at a snails pace and then completely bottled a tackle with Alisson. Moyes can’t be allowed to continue past this season, I won’t be renewing if he is still in charge. What goes through his head when signing these immobile strikers is beyond me

Good analysis and I totally agree with all points made. We desperately need a new manager for next season – including the break.
