The Moyes verdict

|

David Moyes did not appear unduly surprised at the outcome of this afternoon’s game against Everton when he delivered his verdict on the game afterwards.

The manager knew that with both teams missing important player this was always going to be very tight game.

However, in general terms both teams looked modest with mistakes and misplaced passes commonplace in a game which lacked quality.

At the end of it all this was probably a fair result and we’l take the point and move onto Leicester City on Wednesday evening more in hope than optimism.

It seems likely that Zaba will again see duty despite having just risen 35 and his efforts today were admitable, even taking a yellow card for the cause late on as Everton threatened.

The manager would have been pleased with his performance and to be fair this would quite probably been a game we would have lost under the late and unlamented Manuel Pellegrini.

Speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/january/18-january/david-moyes-you-couldnt-fault-players-effort the manager said: “I always thought the game was going to be tight, because we were missing a couple of big players and they were missing a couple of players who were important to them.

So I knew it would be close, the game, and any opportunities you got you had to take. We didn’t really take ours, but I think the good thing was we kept a good discipline.

We didn’t really give away too many opportunities for them to score, and you’ve got to remember Everton I think are third or fourth form team in the Premier League over the last six games so a point, would’ve liked three, was better than none.”
