The real Rice price cools big club interest

Top clubs have been considering a move for Declan Rice have cooled their interest big time given the costs involved in taking the Hammers England international from the London Stadium.

West Ham currently have a £70 million price tag on the defensive midfielder which will grow year on year and with add ons over a four year deal the fee could rise to £100 million plus.

But the costs don’t end there because players commanding that sort of transfer fee also want wages which reflect that sort of worth and in Declan’s case that could be as much as £150k to £200k a week.

And were he to be offered the £200,000k a week over a four year contract that would see a club splashing out around £40m for the player

Only one of the elite European clubs – Barca, Man City, Man U Real Madrid or PSG could afford that but City’s focus is elsewhere on the likes of Atletico Madrid ace Rodri whilst United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has nothing like a sufficient budget this season and has had to trim his expectations

Sources have regularly confirmed to ClaretandHugh that Rice will not be leaving this summer and and that they have not received an enquiry for the player.

The club’s powerbrokers know the numbers can only grow over the next two or three years and the player is more than happy to remain at the club.

  1. Manure are no longer the top club only city in the premier would be an upgrade for dec at this stage of his career. So its either city psg juve barca or real . End of his staying for quite a few seasons especially if sully gives pelle the resources to make us a top club and he can thats for sure

  2. I read this exact artical on another page last night… good job

  3. I’m not even sure why we are talking about this.

    • I refuse to discuss it…….

      • Not really Hugh it gave me the hump when mp started putting a price on his head , we all know money talks and every player has a price but why drum up a conversation about our best player and our future , I expect agent’s and other clubs to do it but our own club and fans Jesus come on …also it ****es me of when we say he will be here next season well great but I would rather hear ,he isn’t going anywhere for a long time ..if we are try ing the so called nxtt level surely we need this kid here ..end of

  4. If rumours are true about our transfer budget increasing to £60m before we have even sold anyone of substance does this mean someone has already been sold subject to us buying some players ?

  5. Thought it was quite a helpful summary of the current situation regarding Declan Rice. None of us want him to leave … probably ever. But we have to face facts that to win stuff regularly, he may well be tempted to leave in the future, so a heads-up of the costs involved can’t do any harm, surely? Can’t see what the fuss about the piece is all about …
