The return of Carlos Tevez

|

Dozens of West Ham supporters donned Carlos Tevez masks at the London Stadium yesterday as they swapped banter with Blades fans as they faced each other in the Premier League for the first time since Sheffield United were relegated in 2008.

Hammers fans sung ‘there is only one Carloz Tevez’ and ‘Carlos Tevez he is one of our own’ with Sheffield fans replying “You can shove your Carlos Tevez up your a**e”

While some fans on social media said grown men wearing Tevez masks was embarrassing the majority agreed it was a bit of harmless fun. Despite a heightened police presence based on intelligence, the game was mostly good-humoured and there were no major incidents reported between the two sets of fans. There was just one arrest for a public order offence.

A number of Blades fans were ejected from the London Stadium when they breached the segregation line after getting over-excited when Sheffield United equalised.  London Stadium, club and police will review CCTV footage on Monday.
