Top award for young Declan

|
Declan Rice looks likely to play

Declan Rice has won the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for October.

West Ham United’s Declan Rice has won the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for October.
The brilliant teenager won the award not only for his performances representing the Hammers’ under-23s, but for his display against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup as well as one appearance in October the Premier League, against Crystal Palace.

It’s a timely hint to David Moyes that this is a young man who has to seriously enter his calculations for regular first team football.

On receiving the award Dec said: ““I’ve been playing well recently and played well last season – I thought I was unlucky not to win it then! But I’m happy to pick up for this month, October.

“I owe the coaches massively, I owe Slaven [Bilic] obviously for giving me that game time against Tottenham – that was a big part of me winning this award. But Terry [Westley] and Liam [Manning] have been great as well. When I’ve gone back down to play with them, they haven’t changed one bit and credit to them for that.”

Proud Academy boss Westley added: “We are all very proud of the young man. He has been quite outstanding in his level of performance and has a tremendous future in the game.”

Probably going to need him. Reid has to travelround the world & I think is playing on Wed so can’t seeing him being fit. Although we play a Sunday next week don’t we? Wonder if Rice will get any international game time..

I don’t know saw Rice at trainingbw Moyes other day. But he has been starting for Ireland U21s.
But we would need him I would pick him over Of myself in back 3 def in but not sure Moyes will play back 3 usually prefers 4-3-2-1 with player right of striker or 4-4-2 which with our attacking players would be greatbif can sort out back 4 get Obiang & Kouyate to cover back 4 we have attacking players that suit either those very well

He’s going to have to play to our strengths JRS ! He may like a 4 but our balance isn’t strong enough in that system or pace ! Its all over the place , bubs ,myself and a few others have been banging on about the poor quality in the back line and m/f for 3seasons at least defensively ! We’ve been seeing that get worse !! January can’t come soon enough but will he get the funds , if not he’s going to need a lot of luck ! Maybe he will get them more organised but you can’t install class and were missing that ! Aging and average players need moving on to step up ! Fingers crossed but keeping an open mind until I see it in progress ! 😉 well done rice ! Keep it up !!.

Already been linked w Konebu don’t likenit seems strange Moyes didn’t like his Attitude at Sunderland.
I can think of many other CBs in Championship who are better then Kone. To me another Risk of who u get, I wanted CB in summer but have to part w some too.
We have def being buying high age to much & giving them long contracts.
No offense to Hart but Adrian better to me & been dealing w same horrific defense w better results. We could have got Mawson or Mee 2 CBs from Championship Larson for the £10m plus it costs just for his wages in season then £4.5 loan fee & Hart isn’t long term if he becomes great he will bugger off elsewhere if stays what he is doing not worth wages… When can go for future.
I was surprised we didn’t go after CB in summer that was needed more then GK & creativity (tho guess that was Arnie)
Unfortunately Jan is hardest time to get good deals but instead of Shipping off Feghouli could have seen Og off who was wanted in Italy & got in CB who is more fit.

For Bilic CB & Dicks both good CBs in there day defense hasnt been good for years we just scored more first season & left over from Sam but fell apart soon.

    Well done Declan COYI !!!

  • JRS says:

He deserves it! Maturity beyond his years. Passionate composed intelligent & just all around good footballer.
Hope he continue to improves which have no doubt he will & is with us for years!

  • FUGMASTER says:

Saw him play in the U23’s against Chelsea a, couple of weeks back; pure class. Infact the whole team played as fit, and attacking unit, Holland also standing out. Bring’em both on, Mr Moyes!

    • JRS says:

Agree he also looked good in preseason & 10mins he got against Cheltenham.
With Rice oout of U23s he is most natural Talented Westerly said it himself & has pace & will take on defenders.
I think him and or Toni all should be on bench at least of some of the games & Sead..
Sameulsen is starting to look himself again he was great w Petersborough 1st time around but u can be over loaned think he was.
We really have the best group on youngsters we’ve had in years & they have proved it w Promotion & being in top 4 w class performances against top U23 clubs!

  • keith astley says:
