Top six club moves for Diego Costa – Could it be West Ham?

|

Speculation is rife after Sky Sports an unnamed top-six Premier League club has offered Diego Costa the chance to sign for them on a deal until the end of the season.

Fifth placed West Ham have been often linked with the former Chelsea striker and speculation on social media and once again linked them.

Costa, who is a free agent, wants a two-and-a-half-year deal worth around £13m over its duration which equates to £450,000 per month or over £112,000 per week. He has had interest from clubs in Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia but no club has yet agreed terms.  The wages demands alone make West Ham an unlikely destination.

It has been suggested that sixth place Spurs instead  is more possible destination for Diego Costa. Tottenham are currently without star striker Harry Kane due to an ankle injury he picked up in the 3-1 loss to Liverpool last Thursday. It is not yet known how long the England captain may be out for, though reports claim he could return before the end of February.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

First thought was sounds like a Mourinho move, Kane is out and none of the other strikers are reliable.

  • James says:

Who in their write mind would spend 450k a week on a player at the age of 32, and their best time is behind them.

I mean he would be a could option as short time cover, but not for 450k a week. That’s laughable.

  • Mojen says:

I would hope not.complete reverse of what moyes has claimed. Would be back to the bad old days.

  • DutchCourage says:

£13 million over 2 and a half years works out at £100k a week on my calculator. Still no thanks, but how does Sean come up with £433k?

  • Rock Hammer says:

Sorry Hugh, I think the maths has gone awry this this one.
2 1/2 year contract at £433k per week is nearly £34M.
I’m assuming you mean ~£166 000 pw for the contract of £13M?

Each story we hear of a striker we are linked with has 3 or 4 paragraphs talking about it then at the end of every one it says but no we wont get them ..I’ve seen this of 5/6 different strikers today alone ,what’s the point……we wont sign anyone now and even though we are having a great season this will cause problems with the fans and if anything goes wrong there will be talk of protests and all sorts ….there so many fans that this is going to make angry…me included …..I obviously dont want any talk about stuff like that but you know it will happen..especially if Antonio gets injured or loses his form …west ham fans are hard to please as we know ..so they will jump on the 1 striker bit straight away if it goes belly up … no way should we be tempting fate like this …..crazy
