Toxic Irons wage atmosphere – let’s get real!

Were we to accept everything we read about the West Ham dressing room it would have us believing that absolutely no training ever takes place at Rush Green.

The reason for this is simple! It appears the players are all too  busy moaning and groaning about what each other are earning to actually spend much time doing what each of them is actually being paid to do.

Over recent days I have heard the atmosphere is toxic because Chicharito is earning £130k a week and a few of our lads don’t think that’s right.

I’ve also been entertained by the No 1 story, that Arnie reckons he needs £200k a week and that other players are mentioned as having issues with Andy Carroll because his injury record shows that £85k a week is bang out of order.

The assumption alongside this discussion is that the figures being thrown around – which have all been plucked from media reports anyway – are accurate. That is seriously unlikely and anyway with so many clauses in contracts these days nobody can ever know what anyone else is actually getting,probably including the individual himself 🙂

The idea that the boys are sitting around discussing each other’s wages wedge rings about as true as Christmas Day arriving next May the sixth.

It’s an easy hitin the middle of an international break when there’s not a lot happening but in reality these are rich people with other things on their mind that what Charlie, Bert, Cyril or Eric may be earning.

Which of us in our various walks of like have ever worried about what others in our work places get. Not many, we’re usually too busy earning our own crusts.

It is entertaining of course and an amusing conversation whilst some dreary internationals are taking place, but a matter for serious consideration – absolutely not.

Time to get real. Thank heavens we have a game coming up on Saturday. At least the conversations can become serious again.
