Transfer window to open tomorrow

|

The Premier League transfer window officially opens tomorrow (Wednesday) and will not shut until 11 pm on 31st August.

Most players on either on holiday or on international duty and many managers are away too.

According to a standard Premier League/English Football League contract, players are entitled to “five weeks paid holiday to be taken at a time or times determined by the club – subject to the club’s first team and any international commitments”.

As you might imagine there’s no scope for carrying days forward like in a typical work environment but “a club shall not unreasonably refuse to permit the player to take three of such weeks consecutively”.

Most players contracts end in June so any new players signing between Wednesday and the end of June are unlikely to start at the club until the 1st July with pre-season training starting shortly afterwards and a summer training camp at St Andrews in Scotland.

Moyes is thought to be on holiday himself and beyond the well-known transfer target of Jesse Lingard is yet to share his targets for centre backs and centre forwards with David Sullivan. We are sure he will be doing his due diligence in the meantime as he is said to be a man of detail when it comes to doing his homework on targets watching many hours of videos each day as well as hundreds of statistics.
