United prepare player/cash Rice deal

|

Manchester United are  showing their hand in the race for Declan Rice with a cash plus player offer believed to have been prepared.

United have been tracking every Arsenal move and with the West Ham rejection of a second bid from the north Londoners the Old Trafford club are alleged to be swinging into action.

United  are considering offering either club captain Harry Maguire or Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay, along with a cash sum, according to the Telegraph.

However, such is the extent of the publicity surrounding the story it really does start to feel as though there is a publicity machine driving the saga and pinches of salt may be required.
All the interested clubs now know the Hammers would accept the right player plus cash deal however, which can only hike up the chances of Arsenal being hijacked

West Ham could act on a proposed offer including McTominay who is a reported target for Hammers boss David Moyes. Rice’s departure will leave a gaping hole in midfield and the Scot could be a ready-made replacement given his 144 English top-flight appearances.

However McTominay is one of many to become unfancied but is believed to be unsure about a move to West Ham.

Similarly, Maguire is expected to leave Manchester following a difficult first season under Ten Hag with it unlikely United will be able to recoup a fee anywhere close to the £80million they paid Leicester in 2019.

Imagine telling Paqueta we have swapped rice for mctomminy !!! A player who is a solid player but will not take us to the next level. For me if I had a choice I would go for Maguire but I would not consider either. The simple reason why should we take players deemed not of the required quality for clubs we are as good as, by doing so we solve their problems, they get stronger and we ultimately get weaker. Players like Phillip’s and ward prowse fall into that too. Let’s go and do our business to make us better.

The problem with part exchange is they are only going to offer players they don’t rate to swap for our best player. Although with part ex you get better value, we have to know we want the player they are offering. Do we want Maguire? Not for me.
