There was much talk that we were ging to buy him but in the end it was Palace who decided to shell out nearly £30 million for Christian Benteke.
Quite apart from missing numerous chances the Palace centre forward managed to produce an absolute howler of a penalty as @WestHamSocial catches above.
It came deep in first half injury time and with Adrian going down early, the former Villa and Liverpool man had the goal at his mercy!
This – thank God – was the result!
We need a bit of luck , so well done Benteke . The return of Lanzini and Creswell was the dynamite Zaza was missing . What a difference to our game it provided , and with Slaven changing the system to a 3 5 2 we finally started to make things happen . That win will have boosted our confidence no end .
It’s great feeling positive again , this Sunday morning I woke up feeling a lot different .
The defense was sharp and Reid was outstanding . Heck , it’s like writing about a different team . Hope now that we at last look something of our old selves we can keep up the improvements . Even Pardew helped us out with his little pep talk before the game .
