David Moyes thought his players were better on Tuesday night against Spurs than we were last Saturday against Wolves but conceded it is only points that matter.
In his post-match interview, the manager said there were some really big West Ham performers and there were two or three who played really last night but things needed to go well at the right times for West Ham which didn’t happen last night.
Moyes claimed the Hammers had a couple of chances but said West Ham are not going to be making 15-20 chances in these remaining games saying we will be lucky if we get three, four or five but we have to take one or two of them.
On Spurs first goal, the manager said it shouldn’t have stood because it comes off his arm and the rules are that if it comes off your arm and leads to a goal it shouldn’t be counted. Overall He thought his players put in a great effort last night away at Spurs and worked really diligent to do their job adding but we can play better.
Moyes told reporters ‘I told the Premier League when we came back, us and Tottenham don’t play for ten days. We are not in the cup so why can’t we play Wednesday or Thursday night. We might have had people fit later on but I think it was a terrible decision by the Premier League and I think the broadcasters would have helped out. An extra day for footballers, at this level, is so important.’
I know it’s a radical idea but if he tried to play a striker instead of having both of them sat on the bench we may have more chance of scoring. He boasts of giving youth a chance so why not put Silva on instead of either Anderson or Lanzini, both of whom seem to have lost their bottle.
