West Ham announcement imminent

|

Pablo Fornals is due to be officially announced as a new West Ham signing tomorrow although his contract like others will not start until 1st July when he becomes a Hammer. Claret and Hugh understand the 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract potentially keeping him at the London Stadium until the summer of 2024.

The attacking midfielder was reportedly earning just £15,000 per week basic wage at Villareal and although his personal terms are unknown it could be safe to say they are most likely less than £40,000 per week effectively more than doubling his wages overnight and a welcomed cost-effective addition to the squad.

The Spanish attacking midfielder will become Pellegrini’s third signing of the Summer after the free transfers of goalkeepers Roberto and David Martin were announced earlier this month.

West Ham is thought to have paid around £24m for the Villareal midfielder with around £8m of that due to be paid up front.

Gabrielle Marcotti seems to rate him & he is on top of what’s going on in La Liga, although reference to losing concentration when out possession is a bit worrying. I am all for attacking football, but we have to reduce those goals conceded if we are to progress at all.
