West Ham bid fails

West Ham United have reportedly failed in a late attempt to hijack the deal for Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers, who is set to join Aston Villa for £12.5m.

The Hammers are now expected to turn their attention to other targets during the last few days of the winter window  with a source telling Claret and Hugh that there are a number on which they are keen.

The club had reportedly made a bid for the winger, but Boro are said to have held out for a higher fee. As a result, the transfer to Villa is now expected to go through.

West Ham’s failure to sign Rogers is a blow to their hopes of strengthening their squad in the January transfer window. However, the club are still expected to be active in the market, with a new attacker their top priority.

With deadline day on February 1st rapidly approaching, Moyes and his team are working hard to identify other potential signings who can help them achieve their objectives this season.
