West Ham claims seriously questioned

|
West Ham’s claim there’s no money for winter transfers is being seriously questioned across various forums and social media. The complaints are that they had a balance left after selling Declan Rice to Arsenal and spending the money on three arrivals which amounted to about that amount. Edson Alvarez and Mohamad Kudus arrived for around £75 million whilst James Ward-Prowse as another £25 million so it’s fair to ask why we have nothing for winter – a bad time to but incidentally as witnessed by Danny Ings last time around.

However, various other factors need to be taken into account before we all rush to judgement despite on paper West Ham having made a £17m profit last summer. That in itself doesn’t paint the full financial picture as assessments over three years need to be taken into account.

And the reality is we seriously overspent in the summer of 2022 in anticipation of the sale of Declan and this along with COVID this landed us on the UEFA Financial Fair Play watch list. UEFA permits football clubs to spend no more than €5 million (£3.9 million) over what they earn in each three-year assessment period. There is, however, a new limit of 30 million euros (previously 45 million euros) if the owners of the club or a related party can cover these losses.

No wonder sullivan was trying to sell declan after the conference final because if you are right we would have went into the summe after winning a major European trophy with no transfer budget how can we claim to be a top club in a situation like this .we really need something drastic to happen soon

It hopefully is smoke and mirrors, if we state we have so many 10s of millions available the price automatically goes up for any player we maybe interested in, keep our cards close to our chest hopefully!
