West Ham have yet to receive a single solid offer for defender Jean-Clair Todibo, Claret & Hugh have discovered within the past few minutes.
The update comes after earlier reports suggested the Frenchman’s exit from the London Stadium was imminent.
However, after speaking directly to the agent who helped bring Todibo to West Ham, the picture appears rather different.
“No Solid Offer”
We asked the representative directly whether a deal was close and were told:
“Close? Depends what you’d call close. Is he leaving… yes. But it could be a week, two weeks, three weeks. At the moment there is no deal because nobody has made a solid offer.”
He then continued:
“Really, nothing has changed since yesterday and I told you then there have only been loan enquiries. West Ham want a permanent transfer. That may change, but at the moment there is not a solid offer. I can’t tell you a club or a date because there is nothing yet.”
West Ham Still Holding Out
The representative added:
“He’ll go though, but you could say the same about Wan-Bissaka although there is not an agreement. The players other teams want, like Fernandes, make transfers happen quickly. But everyone knows who West Ham want to get rid of, so they’re harder to shift.”
That ties in with what Claret & Hugh reported yesterday, namely that there has been interest in taking Todibo on loan but the West Ham hierarchy are, for now at least, holding out for a permanent transfer.
So, whilst there appears to be little doubt that Todibo’s time at West Ham is coming to an end, it also seems highly unlikely anything will happen over the next day or two.
The destination may already be clear.
The timetable, however, remains anything but.
Therein lays the main historical and current problem ” everyone knows who West Ham wants to get rid of “.
Hammers need to be more savvy with our messaging into the public domain in regards to outbound players.
Even if we know what is likely to happen beforehand we need a better collaborative poker stance.
Good riddance
