West Ham Eye Up Available Wilson

West Ham United’s striker search takes a new turn with Callum Wilson reportedly set to be available from Newcastle United.

Sportslens previously linked Wilson to the Hammers, and now GiveMeSport claims Newcastle will sell the 32-year-old to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

However, West Ham face competition for Wilson’s signature, with his former club AFC Bournemouth also rumoured to be interested.

Wilson boasts a proven goalscoring record in the Premier League. This season alone, he has netted 10 goals in 25 appearances for Newcastle. Across his entire Magpies career, he has tallied 48 goals and 11 assists in 107 appearances.

His ability has garnered praise from legends like Alan Shearer, who called him a “proper centre-forward” . Wilson even has international experience, representing England on nine occasions and scoring twice.

With a contract lasting until 2025, Wilson shouldn’t command an exorbitant transfer fee. West Ham will need to act decisively if they are to secure his services amidst reported interest from Bournemouth.

Although at 32 years of age and a potential fee of £20 million, I think we could do better.

Wilson and Antonio competing against each other to be top dog could be interesting and work in our favour but the pair of them have injury records and she against them. Time we stopped with the Danny Ings kind of signing and went with a top quality up and coming striker.

That’s typical of West ham buying players the wrong side of 30. Rumours of Zaha coming in as well. Thought we needed to bring the average squad age down not push it up. As good as he is we’re supposed to be rebuilding/Transitioning . At the moment this is going to be a perpetual merry go round for years on end

  • Selsdonhammer says:

He is too old and injury prone. We are trying to reduce the average age of the squad, not increase it. For £20m there is better long-term value out there. Can’t see Steidten going anywhere near this one.

    Terrible signing

No more ageing players Sullivan !!

  • Bennyboy baker says:

There is no way we should be thinking about bringing Wilson to the club we need a top quality striker not a player that is injury prone and on the downward season of his career but then there’s nothing new in West Ham buying has beens otherwise Newcastle wouldn’t be letting him leave

Please no, I don’t want this cheat anywhere near my club

  • Daniel Good says:

So since the announcement of Moyes, we are still being linked with players past their best, Wilson, Zaha, Dawson, surely these cannot be TS targets

  • Kip says:

Nice young striker again..wtf is wrong with these people..do they not learn by there mistakes..
    Jesus christ

  • Dave says:

I would like to hope these rumours are lazy journalism with any Tom dick and harry passing them on I don’t think ALL potential older signings are bad but this one is. As said by others this can not be a TS signing I hope

  • Derek Wallsh says:

Pointless clickbait and obviously only put around by his agent. 5 years ago maybe, but he’s 32, injury prone and £20 million ! I thought we were trying to get the age down of the squad, it certainly is not a Tim type player.
