West Ham face Toon trouble

Newcastle join Hammers in Barnes race

West Ham have a big Harvey Barnes battle on their hands following news that Newcastle United now are becoming more involved in the race for Leicester City’s winger.

The Irons are known to have been in touch with the relegated Foxes but Newcastle, along with  Spurs and Villa, may be ready to create an auction for the player.

However, we understand none of the interested clubs are ready to go much higher than £35 million for 25-year-old England international

Leicester are ready to sell before the end of the transfer window having already moved his former team-mate James Maddison to Spurs  but Barnes is likely to reject a move to North London given that he can enjoy Champions Leaguer or Europa Cup football with us or the Toon,

West ham sources have revealed to CandhHthey remain confident but that new technical director Tim Steidten’s appointment will see him deeply involved on targets

Let’s not kid ourselves, even if Newcastle were not in for him, if you were barnes would you come to West Ham with the style of football we play. I dont think so. There are rumours and I emphasis I dont know if this is true but apparently Moyes met with Alex Scott (talented footballer) and at the meeting he apparently said to him he could not guarantee that he would see ANY first team football this season !!! What a statement to make to a player you are supposed to be interested in signing and apparently significant work had gone in from our new director of football and noble to get to that stage. By all accounts Noble was fuming and rightly so. That sends a clear signal that there is already a huge disconnect in the recruitment strategy with Moyes – lack of alignment will only lead to financial and footballing disaster. If Moyes is going to persist with two DMs and our new Director of football wants one DM in the team with Paqueta beside him and another creative player in front who can connect the two to Scammaca, we have a total disconnect already. If that story is true that also tells me Moyes has not really bought into this new appointment. Scamacca wants to leave because of Moyes. How many more do – we will soon find out. So dont expect too much from this window with Moyes still in charge as he wont change and top players especially attacking players like barnes will not sign for us.

Yet another transfer window were West Ham are so slow to get involved in , no doubt it will panic buys in the last couple of weeks were we sign the deadwood that nobody else wants……

Lot of doom and gloom posting here?

There was always going to be a lot of competition for Harvey Barnes, West Ham have no divine right to sign who you think they should.

IMHO Barnes would thrive in Moyes ‘hit them on the break’ tactics.

It’s their own fault at the end of the day. Barnes was supposedly identified very early on following the conclusion of last season. Why they didn’t / haven’t put a bid in yet is truly mind baffling. Same with many other players we are linked with.

  • Budgie says:

Newcastle always favourites with Champions League bait. A friend who is a Leicester City supporter does not rate Barnes that highly. Despite scoring goals he goes missing in too many games. They were relegated !
When someone on here says “by all acounts Noble was fuming” I have to say who are all these accounts?

Ignore this story until you see Barnes photographed in a Newcastle top.

Assuming Rice had his medical on Friday as reported everywhere – which he surely would’ve passed – why haven’t Arsenal presented him in their shirt by now? (10pm Saturday)

I’ll put money on West Ham not signing the ‘incredible’ Denis Zakaria on Monday – a player who flopped on loan at Chelsea last season.

You can’t believe anything of what you read, but many of you choose to.

I only read that story online so 100% it could be fictional but if it is true it would be a seriously poor reflection on Moyes and already would cast doubts over his relationship with our new DOF. The point that I was trying to emphasis is they have to be aligned on our transfer strategy. A few months ago I said players and coaches wanted to leave because of Moyes dour tactics They had grown weary of Moyes and his negativity. I said then that time will tell all and it has with two first team coaches having already walked with one clearly stating Moyes tactics as the reason and 100% there are players who want out too and are just waiting for offers to come in….should that surprise anyone absolutely not. Moyes should have gone himself (another example of his stubborness) but since he didn’t he should have been sacked. People know within the club that his tactics in the final nearly cost us…
