West Ham fans had to avoid a sink-hole which suddenly appeared along the Barking Road, East Ham less than a mile from the Boleyn ground before kick off.
Barking Road was closed and buses were diverted after the sinkhole appeared. Some West Ham fans reported delays in getting to the Boleyn Ground before the match against Swansea City kicked off.
Local Newham police tweeted at 2.15 this afternoon “Very heavy traffic in the area today. Barking road closed and A13 lodge avenue flyover closed. Plan your journey.”
West Ham’s official twitter added “Barking Road closed in both directions between East Ham Town Hall and Ron Leighton Way all day due to a large hole in the road”
East Ham’s curate, Elis Matthews tweeted out “Sinkhole in East Ham! Avoid Barking Road. West Ham at home! Avoid Barking Road.”
Better cover it up quick before a few of our fans jump down it after seeing this afternoons display at The Boleyn ground (;
