West Ham fans hoping Summerville curve ball could derail summer move

It has long been accepted that West Ham’s brightest talent will be off to fresh challenges following the Irons’ relegation on the last day of the season, despite a 3-0 comprehensive victory against already safe Leeds United.

Too little, too late was the footnote as the Hammers were left two points short of their nearest rivals and now face the summer rebuild that mist inevitably follow before a season in the Championship.

Along with Mateus Fernandes, Crysencio Summerville has been the player which most fans fully expect to quit the club: Young, gifted and on an upward trajectory, the expectation has always been that he’d be snapped up by one of the several suitors that had been reportedly aiming for his signature – with AC Roma at the front of the queue.

In the show window: Crysencio Summerville due to make his World Cup debut vs Japan tonight.

However it appears the player might have shot himself in the foot as far as a move to AC Roma is concerned, according to news out of Italy conveyed by Ilmessagario.it:.

The report claims they are now looking at other talent, owing to Summerville’s wage demands:

“the player’s initial demands are frightening, as he wants a €6m-per-season contract (£5.1m)”.

That’s half a million a month which is way too strong for Serie A.

Hammers fans will be hoping that the player cannot find a club likely to fork out for that  salary – however, it is pretty modest by Premier League standards and the likelihood is that Summerville will simply have his agent switch to a move closer to home, with Leeds, Spurs, Everton and even Liverpool having been linked – as well as those dubious stories linking PSG with a ‘double swoop’ for both Fernandes and Summerville.

The faint hopes that West Ham fans might harbour of keeping their Flying Dutchman are unlikely to come to much: With Summerville’s World Cup debut due at 9pm tonight there’s every chance that he’ll be out to impress and show why he’s worth every bit of that £5 million a year.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Wouldn’t it by ironic if he got injured during the tournament and had to return to West ham nobody will buy an injured player and he would be out until after the widow closed, just a thought

I have no idea, why Italian clubs keep enquiring about players they clearly cannot afford?
