For probably the first time this season West Ham supporters were UNITED in one simple common goal. No difference of opinion about standing or sitting, the popcorn, the stewards, the distance from the pitch or the walk to and from the station. Everyone was UNITED in their disgust of Payet’s behaviour in his refusal to play for the Hammers. We wanted the team to prove him wrong on the pitch, we wanted West Ham fans to show we didn’t need him. It did no harm that it was the return of Sam Allardyce who divided so many supporters when he was West Ham’s manager. The message was clear we wanted to beat Palace without Payet.
So many season ticket holders agree that the second half of the 3-0 win against against Crystal Palace was the best atmosphere so far at the London Stadium surpassing even the EFL cup win over Chelsea on an evening game which was pretty special itself minus the troubles at the end.
WeΒ left the away fans to fight with the stewards Β and beat their drum as West Ham supporters sung their hearts out, cheered and made the London Stadium feel like a football stadium for 45 minutes.
Many have said that if the Hammers started winning convincingly at home on the London Stadium pitch then a lot of the imperfections could be overlooked or forgotten and Saturday afternoon seems to prove that theory.
A few more three or four nil wins at home Β in the second half of the season and the place will feel like home in no time at all!
Is the stadium perfect? NO! Β Do we care if we won every game at home NO!
Im not adverse to slamming some popcorn down my throat,i cant believe that has ever become a source of arguement.I like the stuff & couldnt care whether its at a football ground or not.It cant be any worse than some fat builders ass geezer wedging a Mars Bar in his gob sideways or trying to poor a family size pack of Quavers down his throat in one hit like some savage near me π
Sorry Rads I’ll stop eating the mars bar sideways and eating the quavers then π
Cheers for that mate & can you pull your trousers up over your ass crack. Thanks for the offer but i dont need anywhere to put my programme, under my seat does fine ππ
Only doing my impression of the slug for you mate as I know you miss him so much π
I still haven’t worked out why i get a programme being an illiterate C&H user but the pictures in it are good π
You have to remember though Lama that popcorn is one step too far. Some of our fans still havnt got over the day they sold Salt & Vinegar & Cheese & Onion crisps at Upton Park for the first time.
It should have stayed at Ready Salted.None of these new fangled flavours they couldnt get their heads around.
On a serious note as i said earlier i couldnt make it yesterday through work commitments but my nephew said it was a really good tight feel to the crowd against matters that had conspired to make it a bad week for the club.It was great to hear.
Im hoping the more fans that can start to come to enjoy the new stadium or at the very least make their peace with the move & continue to go will start to turn the stadium into our castle to defend. We are not going to be leaving there anytime soon so i guess you embrace it or move on if the experience is personally so poor.Thats anyones prerogative.
I have said pretty much the same before & for a large majority of the fans it will be that simple. Some on the other hand though will never admit that, even if we went the whole season winning every single home game.
After such a sh1tty week for the club we have experienced a pretty decent weekend. we had a convincing home win in a London derby, keeping a clean sheet, Carroll has scored the goal of the season, putting one over BFS (who again blames everyone else for the results, never his tactics) & have finally got rid of Zaza. not a bad end to the week is it? π
Yeah it wasnt a bad weekend Essex. The whingers must be gutted π«π
Its pretty sad & desperate when youre so against the board & move you have to defend Payet in this just to try to turn it against the chairmen. The bitterness of some fans is embaressing. They have no limits even if it includes stirring up old sh1t about Bilic to keep b1tching.
That’s the #westhamfamily for you Long Fella ! You know the one where it’s important to be seen as the one voice of the club and bugger what anyone else thinks or says π
Every wolf pack has an Alpha male GW as every flock of sheep needs a shepherd they blindly follow.
Lol this family
Whoops
This family reasons stuff is really starting to get on my bristols. Are you telling me that Bilic who whatever you think of him as a manager is a proper humanbeing,a decent guy wouldnt have listened to Payet if he had said his family life is screwed & in tatters if he doesnt return to France. What a load of boll****.If that was the case Bilic would have said in the presser im sad to say it but im going to be losing Dimi for private reasons..no more questions please.
You think that Bilic is almost in tears because of a simple convo over Payet going because of family reasons.Yeah there is always two sides to a story but usually when the truth comes out they are heavily weighed in the favour of one side.Sorry i aint having it is all about family reasons. My opinion anyway ππ
It’d be no fun without a bit of a row every now and then – get it all out in the open, agree to disagree and talk through your differences.
I am available for all types of Counselling – Marriage Guidance, Personal problems, Work related issues, Does your Manager understand you?, Do you feel valued in your job?, all sorts of other cobblers etc etc
Lol Michael, you could be just the man i need. What can you do about girlfriends with the hump? π
Didnt see the snide expressing big family reasons when he started courting the new OM owners in the press about what an exciting project OM would be about 6 weeks ago.If he aint had his head turned by the new owners to be their new big cheese there then i will be astonished.
Come to think about wtf does it matter,he is going, who cares why π
Payet wants Marseille, they want him, lovely! But as a club we have no reason to make the transfer easy for them. And Marseille’s new owners have dosh.
If they want him as their marquee signing in the middle of the season they should start submitting some realistic bids, starting around the 40 million mark.
If they are that keen they will pay. Or risk having to wait until summer…
They can have him if they cough up,we as fans in the main dont want the idiot no more. But i aint having this family reason rubbish as the main instigator for the move.I aint saying he aint got some family problems, maybe he has but i aint having it for one minute it is the real driving force in this move.To be honest & i will look daft if it turns out to be true but i think you must have a bloody screw loose if you believe its the main reason π
I’m bored with nearly every article starting off with being all about that ponce, yes he was our hero but he has shown his true colours, enough…. F**k Off & lets move on.
The only story I want to read about him is that he has gone, as far as I’m concerned he isn’t a west Ham player anymore.
Right then…… are we signing Hogan or anyone else this week?
Well said Essex! To much time spent talking about the little **** and how life is so hard for the poor little cherub! Hogan would be a good signing as would Andre Gray build up the British spine and forget about the spineless money grabbing **** π
I saw the link with Andre Gray.I dont know if it has any legs but i liked him at Brentford.Hasnt been too shabby at Burnley either.
Yes Hogan will be joining this week essexclaret.
Well i will have one final word on Payet & his situation
I always try to look at things in a balanced way, though football is pretty emotionally driven.
Well much as i try to search for any redeeming features to not be so harsh on Payet i can find none, zilch, zero. Please dont tell me the family reasons line.Costa did the same as little as two weeks ago when he said he almost left Chelsea in the summer because of family reasons. It is used to soften the fans opinion of them if they walk out.A convinient line to run with.
Its a total crock of.
One very final point on Paycheque.Throughout this saga unless i have missed it i havnt seen one journo, pundit turn around & say “well it has been known within football he needs to get back to France for the sake of his family”.Are you telling me no one in football didnt know this.If that was the case it was for famiky reasons surely pundits on tv & radio would know & would go a tiny bit easier on him.But no they have almost to a man torn him off a strip.
Family reasons,do me a favour.
So what odds on the little French **** going back to Marseille then realising they’ve got no chance of getting to Europe, his wife and kids then suddenly developing a taste for crispy duck and soft noodles and Marseille flogging him for 60m?
I didnt realise where this Payet & his family discussion had come from.I thought it was over something serious.I didn’t realise until taking a peek at WHTID it was only good old Nigel Kahn letting all the masses know he has his finger on the pulse & is as ever a country mile in front of their knowledge of everything West Ham.
Or just a rallying cry to his flock to raise all there sticks and batter the board again π
I actually said it tongue in cheek. He seems like a good fella really. His only problem is that he seems to surround himself with like minded people & doesnt seem to realise it like it or not there is a huge worldwide fanbase who are nit all as obsessed with West Ham as him & a larfe proportion dont even take any interest in the chairmen, board or club issues.Thats why when you read these fans who say 90% of the fans want the board out they are fooling themselves. Its what they would like but it is so far removed from the truth its laughable.
Lol i like the geezer, never met him but i like people like him, brutally honest,no bullsh*t.Pinned his colours to the mast & has stuck to it.I dont agree with some of his tub thumping but at least he has been consistent. Not like bloody H who rattled on about how great global West Ham would be & what a great shirt selling market China will be & is now crying his little German cotton socks off about losing our community club.Bloody good he aint a wind sock he would be blowing in all directions lol π
Just joking H ππ
You may only be joking mate, but believe me, nobody was more shocked about my U-turn than myself. I wanted it all to work out and be fantastic (maybe it will work eventually), but my three home games so far have put me through some very underwhelming matchday experiences.
My initial opinion was based on hope and expectation, my current opinion is based on personal experiences.
I see nothing wrong with changing an opinion if you take new facts into consideration…
Yeah i was know i was only joking with you H.What an individual does one way or another about it all is their call.Thats fair enough in my book.As i have always said if people want to stop going to the stadium fair enough.Simply because without being harsh i dont personally know them so what they do impacts me not one bit π
Funny how the incident with the Palace fans and the stewards never made the red tops. I know it wasn’t anything much but if it was our fans it would have been back page headlines. In fact the the Express said it involved both sets of fans. If you didn’t know better you’d think there was some sort of agenda here.
Agenda against us.Surely not PT Lol.
Surely not
Look how quickly no one is talking about Costa which is a far bigger story, one rule for the big clubs one rule for the rest…
Without a doubt there is an agenda against our club. And by that, I include the owners, board, team and fans (in particular). Sure, we do have a small number of undesirable yobs but so does every club. Most of the stadium sh.t has been flamed by the media. My seat is in the East stand and I have been at every game this season except Saturday (sick in bed). Considering how we have fared this season, I think the atmosphere has been pretty good (except for the last 20 minutes of the Man City game). We will never get good press from the red tops.
It does not matter to me the reason he will not play for WHU again. Whether it be family reasons, money, ambition, etc. The fact is he signed a new contract a short while back and accepted and banked Β£1mil loyalty bonus just weeks ago. As part of any transfer deal, Payet should be made to return that Β£1mil to the club. No repayment, no transfer. End of!
As for missing him, i blogged a few days ago that the defensive performances of Payet this season have been very poor and, in my view, the main reason why Cressie has struggled so much. Isn’t it strange that no Payet, a win and a clean sheet. The sooner he goes, provided we bring in a quality replacement with a team ethic, the better.
Anyway getting back to signings why not go for Dominic Iorfa,rb at Wolves.I personally rate him π
Good one Rads.Get someone else to fill your rb role while you keep chasing the overpaid KFC role vacated by the fat Frog.LOL
That was my cunning plan Roman.Damn, you saw through it π
So have we finished talking about Payet? I’ll tell you what Saturday was about. It was about the fans at the stadium coming together in support of the players and Slav and the board and owners. Our club. It wasn’t about Payet. Or Sam. Personally I couldn’t care less if those fans that slag the club off don’t renew their ST that’s their choice but after Saturday I’ll scream if I hear the stadium isn’t a football stadium again. Play decent football and the fans will make it what they want.
