West Ham Foodbank and Umbro join forces

Last weekend Irons Supporting Foodbanks were able to supply Ambition Aspire Achieve in Canning Town with approx. £5,000-worth of Sports kit kindly donated to us by Hammers kit supplier Umbro in Manchester.

John Ratomski from Irons Supporting Foodbanks explained: ‘Umbro’s Manchester office had contacted Liam Tyrell from Trans Pennine Irons about a basement full of sports kit, some West Ham branded, which they wanted to supply to good causes. Liam got in touch and we felt if we could get this kit down to Newham then local communities could benefit.’

‘I went along to collect the gear which filled the car with seventy pairs of trainers/boots, eighteen leather footballs, West Ham children and infant kits, plus assorted sports bags, shinpads, tracksuits and generic kits.

We were able to deliver these in time for their five-year celebration on Saturday. By coincidence, AAA had put out appeals on their socials during the previous week asking for donations of sports kits and clothing so our timing was just right.

Moving forward we will also be able to regularly supply them with new clothing with more being delivered on Thursday.’ On seeing the weekend photos Umbro Office Manager Rachael Moss added: ‘Thanks for these. Glad they have gone to a very worthy place’.
