West Ham United has emerged as a leading contender to sign Sunderland winger Jack Clarke this summer, according to The Daily Mirror.

The 23-year-old has been a standout performer for Sunderland in the Championship, racking up 15 goals and 4 assists, attracting interest from multiple Premier League clubs.

A move to West Ham could be ideal for Clarke as the club enters a new era under manager Julen Lopetegui. With David Moyes departing and potentially some key players like Lucas Paqueta leaving, there could be an opportunity for Clarke to break into the first team.

If Paqueta joins Manchester City, as rumoured, it would create a gap in the West Ham attack that Clarke could potentially fill. This transfer would also offer him the chance to hopefully experience European football, if next season goes to plan.

While Clarke has impressed in the Championship, the step up to the Premier League could be challenging. However, his overall performance over the past two seasons, with 24 goals and 15 assists, suggests he might be worth the risk.

The final decision might hinge on the appointment of Sunderland’s new manager. Clarke’s future might depend on the playing style and vision implemented by the incoming boss.

Overall, West Ham’s interest in Jack Clarke presents an intriguing possibility. While there are some uncertainties regarding his ability to adapt to the Premier League, his recent form suggests he has the potential to be a valuable addition to the Hammers’ squad, especially if they lose key players like Paqueta.

Hope it happens as he is a very good player and if he develops along the same lines as Bowen it will be a very good deal……Championship has some decent players and i hope we look there just as much as we are looking in Brazil France and elswhere

Surely Paqueta has little to do with it. We have a vacancy on the left wing since Benrahma went to France and Moyes failed to replace him. Paqueta was never meant to be a left winger.

And you also shouldn’t say that if Antonio departs it would create a gap for a centre forward. We’ve had a vacancy for a central striker since Scamacca went back to Italy and Moyes never replaced him either.
