West Ham Insider Dismisses Nuno Replacement Claim As ‘Complete And Utter Nonsense’

West Ham have emphatically rejected reports linking Rob Edwards with Nuno Espírito Santo’s job, with a London Stadium insider describing the claims to Claret & Hugh as “complete and utter nonsense”. The response follows suggestions that the Hammers have made preliminary contact with the former Wolves manager.

Football Insider reported yesterday morning that West Ham had sounded out Edwards, who has reportedly rejected an approach from Burnley. However, our source has firmly disputed that version of events, making it clear that the club is not looking to replace Nuno.

The insider also told Claret & Hugh that Daniel Křetínský is very happy with the job the manager is doing and that Nuno is under no pressure. Our source added: “I don’t know where these reports have come from.”

West Ham Back Nuno After Southampton Setback

There are certainly things for Nuno to address following Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Southampton. The slow starts remain frustrating, the strikers need to contribute more and the injury concerns have created some difficult selection decisions ahead of West Bromwich Albion.

But criticism of performances is a very different matter from the club actively trying to replace its manager. The message we have received from inside the London Stadium could hardly be clearer.

Personally, I think that distinction matters. Supporters are perfectly entitled to question Nuno’s decisions without every disappointing result becoming the starting point for another managerial search.

West Ham are third in the Championship, just three points behind leaders Middlesbrough, having suffered their first league defeat in ten matches. Whatever frustrations exist following the Southampton result, that hardly represents a disastrous start to the promotion campaign.

Whatever anyone thinks of Edwards as a potential appointment, the suggestion that West Ham have already begun moving towards him has now been emphatically rejected by our source.
