West Ham linked with defensive duo

More from the ever- moving rumour mill.

The first being is that Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is again being touted to join us in the summer.  Wan-Bissaka’s role has dwindled since his first two seasons at United. Indeed, he played 35 times in the Premier League in his first season, followed by 34 games the next campaign.

Last season, he managed just 20 league appearances, and as yet this term has played only 12 times, as he seems to have fallen out of favour.

United paid £50million for him in 2019, so they’d be looking to recoup some of that. However, as Wan-Bissaka has just one year left on his contract would mean they would not be able to demand a huge sum.

As such, were West Ham to pursue him, we could have a good shot at getting him.

The second bit of speculation is yet another defender; the USA international Segino Dest, who is currently struggling on a loan spell at AC Milan from his parent club Barcelona.

The youngster has failed to impress at the Serie A giants, with Fabrizio Romano now confirming that the club do not want to trigger the €20million (£17.7million) buy option clause for the full-back.

The Hammers would welcome the promising talent of Dest, who can operate at right-back or left-back, or even further up the pitch on either side, with such versatility hugely beneficial in the modern game.

As CandH reported in previous post , we have the second oldest squad in the league at an average age of (27.8) and are only just behind only Fulham (27.9). So, who knows, perhaps Dest will be among the first of many new young faces to arrive at the London Stadium this summer.
