West Ham have missed out on Chelsea star left back Ian Maatsen.

The Hammers have been keenly following his situation knowing he was due to come out of contract next summer.
We and a number of other clubs were keen to sign the 21 year old but Chelsea came to an agreement with the player yesterday to extend his deal until June 2025.

Maatsen was believed to be at the top of the David Moyes wanted list but the manager will now be left to look elsewhere for a back-up to current No 1 Emerson when Aaron Cresswell leaves the club, possibly as early as January.
Dutchman Maatsen has been a regular for Chelsea this season and was hotly fancied by ourselves.
However, the Hammers will now undoubtedly wait until the summer to fill the position with few top class players being available in January.
