West Ham News Report: Hammers chase Serie A rising star

Hammers chase Serie A rising star Gudmundsson

West Ham United are among the clubs trying to sign Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson during the summer transfer window. It has been suggested that the Hammers could face competition from Juventus and Spurs to land the Icelandic forward in the upcoming transfer window.

Quite frankly it’s difficult to keep up with the large volume of strikers West Ham are continually linked with. This week has seen constant speculation linking us with Brentford and England’s Ivan Toney. Then there was further speculation involving Nottingham Forests Taiwo Awoniyi and well as Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen.

26 year old Gudmundsson has been impressing in Serie A this season and has been continually linked with a move to East London. To be perfectly accurate, the striker has been linked to pretty much everyone in the last month, so I’ll not read too much into this report.

It is clear however, that the West Ham scouting system which is headed by Tim Steidten must sign a striker this summer. Gianluca Scamacca has not been replaced and it took David Moyes 18 months to replace Sebastien Haller with the Italian.

So whether it’s Gudmundsson, Toney or anyone else, let’s just hope the club get a wriggle-on.
