West Ham opposed to radical Fifa plan

|

West Ham are opposed to a World Cup every two years despite David Moyes claiming he would need top see more detail before making a cut and dried decision.

However, both he and David Sullivan would struggle to accept such a situation and although the chief shareholder no longer makes any kid of public statement is understood to be opposed.

A source close to him explained; “He’s made it clear to friends that he is opposed as there are so many  many qualifiers and  believes players need a summer break.

He doesn’t believe it makes much sense to have the likes of Andorra and others involved and that a pre-qualifying tournament would be a better way forward.”

Meanwhile Moyes who has made it clear in his presser that there may be changes at Everton because some players are struggling with form and fitness.

He told reporters: “I don’t think anything will ever make it acceptable, But if we said, for example, we were removing the FA Cup or removing the Carabao Cup, and you’re just putting in Premier League games that might start to free up an extra few weekends and midweeks.

It might start to free up more weekends for example, but that’s what I’m saying. I think FIFA must have another idea  on how to make the scheduling not as big as it is?

And I’m sure that the people who are in charge of those other competitions are saying; “No, there’s no way we’re going to get them up.”

So that’s why I think that nobody can see a way we can have a World Cup every two years, that is going to be watchable.
