West Ham United have rejected an offer for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Claret & Hugh have exclusively been told this morning.
The right-back is deemed surplus to requirements at the London Stadium, a decision made by Nuno Espírito Santo.
However, despite Wan-Bissaka no longer being part of the manager’s plans, the West Ham hierarchy are not prepared to accept below-market offers for the defender.
As such, they have rejected a €10 million bid from a club Claret & Hugh can exclusively reveal to be Lazio.
West Ham Want Double
Speaking directly to a well-placed source, we were told:
“10m euros was rejected for Wan Bissaka, they want 20m euros and think the offer was insulting given the players value.”
Whether or not West Ham are able to achieve that valuation for the former Manchester United defender remains to be seen, given his disappointing form last season.
That said, it’s worth remembering Wan-Bissaka enjoyed a decent World Cup with DR Congo and, on his day, remains one of the better defensive full-backs in the Premier League.
The Background
Whilst it has not been officially confirmed, it is believed Wan-Bissaka’s falling-out with Espírito Santo came after the right-back failed to return to West Ham following DR Congo’s qualification for the World Cup.
Instead, the squad attended a presidential celebration in Congo, by which time Kyle Walker-Peters had established himself as the Hammers’ first-choice right-back.
Whether Lazio return with an improved offer remains to be seen, but for now West Ham have made their valuation crystal clear.
cant help thinking Nuno is maybe a little bit too up his own backside I can only imagine how much of an insult it may have been to the Congo had he been the only 1 to leave
Well. a big party, OR return to west ham, not a difficult decision. lol
He’s only 28 and quality when motivated. I will be sad to see him go but lost his place and to be fair Walker Peters deserved to keep it. Some seem to blame the manager but players that get paid a fortune but get the hump when dropped due to average performances deserve little credit in my book. Not sure that this is 100% what has happened in this case but Todibo, Fullkrug and Alvarez have disappointed a great deal. Credit to JWP and even Kilman for at least remaining professional in their attitude.
I’m fed up with all the stories that he’s fallen out this player, then another etc or this player is now deemed surplus to requirements. It’s absolute rubbish. When on form he is a class above Walker-Peters, but we need both of them otherwise Nuno will trying playing Scarles out of position again and that doesn’t thinking about.
Nuno needs to be sacked, as he is the one who should be deemed surplus to requirements!
Looks like Sullivan has gone to the dark side and started negotiating for other clubs.
This thing with Nuno is pathetic and said before he’s a grown man and needs to up.
Whu won’t get £25m for him nice try.
About time Kretinsky had a word with Nuno and informed him he is not god! AWB had a bad season last season, before that he was our standout player. Perhaps Nuno needs to go on a man management course as there seems to be a recurring theme here? If in every fall out with players there is one constant, then maybe the problem lies not with the players are more with the constant?
insulting? we only paid 15m for him a couple of years ago , I wonder if Man u were insulted…
couldn’t get a game in a relegated team, on a stupid long term contract with a huge wage, someone has to take that on….
Nuno falls out with a lot of players doesn’t he? He needs to calm down a bit we haven’t got the biggest squad
With the player preferring a ‘jolly’ with his international pals when his team mates needed him for a relegation fight I think I might have fallen out with him as well!
His couldn’t care less attitude towards the end of the season was unforgivable – not the type of character we need for a Championship promotion battle. Nuno would be right to ditch him.
That wasn’t his fault. The President who is an authoritarian ordered the team to stay in the country for the celebrations forcing the Congolese Football to block his departure. West Ham put in a complaint to FIFA about the actions of the Congolese Football Federation.
He was never guaranteed a starting place for that particular game as KWP was deemed favourite.
Nuno needs to put his toys back in the pram and listen to people around him.
Yet another player that not only does Nuno deem surplus to requirements but he has made that clear. No wonder we are only receiving low offers.
Well said…Ted
