West Ham sponsorship deal worth £60m

|

West Ham’s new sponsorship deal with Betway is worth over £60m according to Gambling industry insiders with each season worth over £10m per season. The new six-year deal is the biggest sponsorship deal outside the top six clubs.

Manchester United sit at the top of the Premier League when it comes to shirt sponsorship agreements. In a massive deal with General Motors, United are paid a remarkable £47m per season to wear the Chevrolet logo on their kit.

Manchester City has been sponsored by Abu Dhabi airline Etihad Airways. The deal is reported to be for £45m per year.

Liverpool sponsor Standard Chartered has been with the club since the 2010 season, making it the second-longest shirt sponsor in the club’s history. The deal is worth £160m over four seasons.

Chelsea have had many shirt sponsors over the years, but none as lucrative as their current deal with Yokohama Tyres. The Japanese tyre manufacturer pays Chelsea an incredible £40m per season.

Arsenal have donned the same shirt sponsor since 2006. Emirates signed on with the London club and agreed to sponsor the kit, as well as be the stadium’s sponsor. The shirt deal is worth a staggering £200m over the course of five seasons.

Spurs agreed their shirt sponsor deal with insurance company AIA in 2015 and the relationship was extended in 2017. The deal is reported to be worth £35m per season.

Behind the Hammers, Everton came to an agreement with Kenyan gaming company SportPesa. The deal is reported to be worth £48m over five years, or £9.6m per season.

it is a real shame that so many clubs accept money from gambling organisations. the very same people who pay the sponsorship are using money lost by the people they prey on – supporters who may not be able to afford to go to matches because they suffer from a gambling addiction. that is why i won’t by another West Ham shirt until the sponsorship ends. i may die first. i honestly feel ashamed of myself when advertising gambling on clothing. i should know…the last time i wore a West Ham shirt it had SBOBET on it and we were relegated. now i wear the Doc Martens instead

Great comment, I totally agree! I bought this year’s kit without the sponsorship logo. It doesn’t look as good plain. But my conscience is much better for it. I loved the doc. Martens kit.

      In total agreement with you!

It is vital that all clubs achieve additional revenue streams to TV money, which is not really theirs.

Just such a pity when the source of the stream is so immoral and counter-/non-productive.

I feel the same way, I have just ordered one without BETWAY all over it.
For a club like us £66m is a good deal. We have won sfa for 40yrs so not really in a great bargaining position.

100% agree, Rollercoaster. It sickens me the amount of gambling that is awash in society. Every other advert on Sky Sports is some B-Lister trying to coax us into gambling with ‘smarts’… Yeah, okay then… The smart thing to do is not to buy into the hype. I think it cheapens our club.
