West Ham Target Nottingham Forest Duo to Bolster Attack

West Ham target Nottingham Forest attackers

West Ham United are reportedly eyeing a double raid on Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest, with both Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi on their radar, according to Soccer Net.

Last week Claret & Hugh reported that there was heavy interest in Gibbs-White, potentially looking to exploit Forest’s financial woes if they are relegated. Now, it seems the Hammers might pursue a double swoop for both players.

Whilst I have personally believed for some time that Gibbs White would be the perfect replacement for Lucas Paqueta, but the Awonyi link certainly makes sense.

Michail Antonio’s form has dipped in recent seasons, prompting West Ham’s search for a new striker. Taiwo Awoniyi, with his 6 goals and 3 assists this season, has emerged as a target.

Awoniyi shares some characteristics with Antonio, suggesting he could be a suitable replacement.  While his goal record may not be exceptional, it surpasses that of most West Ham strikers recently, particularly considering he’s playing for a struggling Forest side.

Awoniyi seems like a low-risk option.  His skillset appears to fit David Moyes’ system, assuming the manager remains at West Ham next season.

Securing both Awoniyi and Gibbs-White at a bargain price would be a coup for West Ham. However, competition for their signatures is likely, especially if Forest are relegated.
