West Ham to trial concession turnstiles

|

Operators London Stadium will trial concession turnstiles next season at the London Stadium.  At present, a different coloured amber light is shown when a concession enters a turnstile whether they be Over 65, Under 21 or Under 16. A number of revenue protection officers are present on match days who then challenge anyone they deem to be abusing a concession ticket.

Supporters are asked to upgrade at the ticket office although repeat offenders will see the ticket withdrawn for a set number of games or lose the season ticket all together in extreme cases.

It is thought that West Ham fund these revenue protection officers but the introduction of dedicated turnstiles for concession ticket holders would cut down on the number of revenue protection officers required.

Minutes of the London Stadium Safety Advisory Group (LS-SAG)  chaired by Newham on 15th February reveal ” LS185 advised that (ticket office) staff will be deployed at the turnstiles going forward. Concession turnstiles are being trialled.”

Suspect a lot of parents won’t be happy to have their kids go through a separate turn stile without them
