West Ham totally exceeded pre-season hopes

|

West Ham supporters were the least optimistic pre-season last year when polled by the Athletic in September.

The Hammers fans hopes were last with just 8.8% optimistic about the coming season after finishing 16th the previous season.

Southampton fans were the most optimistic with 98.9% believing it was going to be a good season, they finished 15th!

Arsenal fans were the third with most hope on 97%, they finished eighth outside of any European places.

83.2%  of Spurs thought it was going to be their season but they scrapped seventh place behind West Ham in the Conference League spot.

Interestingly only 79.5% of Manchester City were full of hope in tenth place but they ran away from the League.

91.5% of Everton supporters thought they were in for a great 2020/2021 season placing them fifth in the hope table but they could only manage tenth place in the final Premier League table standings.

Maybe low expectations from West Ham fans helped them finish sixth as avoiding relegation was the prime priority for many supporters pre-season.

    Look at Leicester too.

Basically all this reveals is that those surveys on expectations are horse poo.
