West Ham transfer round-up: Hammers interested in Emilano Martinez

West Ham transfer round up dawns another day with Arsenal bullish about their chances of signing Declan Rice,

West Ham are considering possible replacements. Kalvin Phillips has popped up on their transfer radar, bleeping frantically, as have João Palhinha, Scott McTominay, James Ward-Prowse and Harvey Barnes.

Having missed out on Phillips last summer despite making a £50 million bid, West Ham have a longstanding interest in the Manchester City midfielder. He shouldn’t take much convincing to swap a club with zero European trophies this season – a technicality, admittedly – for the vanquishers of the Europa Conference League!

And the latest piece of transfer tittle tattle is that West Ham are now being linked with a move to sign Uruguayan midfielder Emiliano Martinez this summer.

According to a report from the Uruguayan football website Traspasos, Emiliano Martinez is firmly on the Hammers radar ahead of the summer transfer window

Our Supremo is on the hunt for a top-class central midfielder this summer, with Declan Rice apparently set to leave the London Stadium. and of course a variety of names are being put forward

Traspasos reckon that the 23-year-old is a transfer target for the Hammers and Everton this summer.

The Uruguayan, who plays for Danish side FC Midtjylland, is an out and out defensive midfielder.

His stats in the Europa League this season make for really impressive reading. In six outings, Martinez averaged three tackles, one interception and 1.1 clearances per game as per Opta

This will be a massive summer ahead for Moyes and the transfer team at West Ham. We have to get our signings 100% spot on.

Emiliano Martinez may well end up being a decent addition for the future but the Hammers need to be aiming a lot higher than the Uruguayan, if we are to challenge for the top seven in the Premier League again next season.
