What a difference a week makes. West Ham drew at Watford in a lacklustre display last Saturday, only seven days after losing to Charlton, and the last bubbles of optimism seems to fade as the Hammers plunged to nineteenth position.
However the benefit of this division is that the games come thick and fast and redemption arrived on Tuesday night with an utterly unexpected 4-2 win over promotion rivals Wolves.
Things feel much better as the Irons appear to have momentum and could rise as high as sixth today with a second home win this week.
Our own suggestions for Nuno’s starting eleven would see a debut for Adama Boiro ahead of Ollie Scarles, if he’s up to speed: The former Athletic Club Madrid left back played six Champions League fixtures last season and isn’t here just to make up the numbers.
So our best guess for Nuno’s starting eleven (not the XI we’d like to see, you understand..) is :
Hermansen | Veltman, Mavropanos, Kilman, Adama | Engels, Mukasa | Bowen, Pablo, Piroe, Solomon
(Pointless fact: This would be the first time West Ham haven’t included a player with a double barrelled name on the team sheet in about three years!)
Score predictions:
Gonzo: West Ham 3 – 0 Derby
Martin: West Ham 3 – 1 Derby
Sean: West Ham 2 – 1 Derby
Matt: West Ham 2 – 0 Derby
A quartet of optimists is quite concerning – cannot recall the last time we were all forecasting a Hammers home win.
Nuno’s side will be revealed at 1.45 so check back to see how close we’ve got with our predicted line up
They played & drew 1-1 with Watford last Saturday mate
I thought we drew with Watford last Saturday
