West Ham v Manchester United: Head to Head

|

Manchester United have won just three of the past 11 league meetings with West Ham (D5, L3).

The Hammers could beat United for a third successive home league game, which they haven’t achieved since a run of four victories between 1974-77.

This will be only the fourth Premier League fixture between the clubs with West Ham starting above United in the table.

West Ham have won five of their past eight league matches, including the last three in a row.

Seventeen points is their second highest Premier League tally after 10 games. They accrued 20 at the same stage in 2015-16.

The Hammers have only been beaten once in their past seven home league fixtures (W4, D2).

The Irons have opened the scoring in five consecutive league games, their longest run since March 2006.

Moyes won 17 and lost 11 of his 34 Premier League matches in charge of Manchester United during the 2013-14 season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is winless in both Premier League fixtures as a manager versus David Moyes (D1, L1).

All good stats but mean nothing at 530 today. Dont win on paper. West Ham still have to do the job and win. Wont be easy but well capable. The past is well past !

I thought this post was going to refer to a player v player comparison when I saw the title. Anyway, it got me thinking about how many Hammers players would make a combined/best 11 based on form this season. I make it 5 (which is higher than most seasons over quite a few years, I reckon) – Fab, Oggy, Cressy, Rice and Bowen. So on the basis that home advantage and momentum equal one more player, we should at least get a draw..?

Without Antonio who unfortunately is becoming a “sick note” we have no pace in our side.. Haller does not inspire me at all.. We need a genuine pacey midfielder /striker… Their attack is far superior to ours… Fingers crossed but I fear the worst COYI…
