West Ham will not stand in Adrian’s way

|

Adrian_3164087bWest Ham will not stand in Adrian’s way if a Spanish club come in for him during the January transfer window.

The Spanish shot stopper has just six months remaining on his contract which has led to speculation that his time at West Ham is coming to an end given his dropping from the first team.

Adrian dropped a clanger in the second half against Stoke which cost the Hammers a priceless win and he was axed by Bilic soon after after a poor run of form.

The Hammers have been linked with moves to Chelsea’s No.2 Asmir Begovic who wants first team football and Man City’s Joe Hart who is on loan to Torino in Italy. While the goalkeeper position is unlikely to be a priority in the winter transfer window, the Hammers will draw up a list of names should Adrian leave.

Adrian joined the Hammers on 1 July 2013 following the expiration of his contract with the Seville-based Primera Division side. He has made 79 appearances for the Irons with 20 clean sheets.

There is clearly something more deep seated than being dropped if he’s made it into the last six months of his contract with no new agreement. Either he and the club have failed to agree terms, or one party doesn’t fancy it. If he leaves it’ll be on a free/Bosman, so he will effective pocket whatever the transfer fee would have in the old days as a signing-on fee for a new club. If he knows he’s leaving, that could account for some of his more reckless moments….

Honestly feel really sorry for Adrian. I still rate him higher than Randolph and the Bilic shouldn’t have dropped him after 1 costly mistake. Compare it to the amount of times that Adrian has saved us in the past and his mistakes are nothing. I would be very disappointed if we let him leave.

I had no idea he only had 6 months left on his contract. That makes it all the more difficult for the club in terms of their negotiating position. I think at present Randolph is the number one so do we try and get something for him in January or keep him for back up for the next 6 months.

It would be my preference to keep him until the end of the season. He is a good no.2 but unfortunately his inabilities have really come out this year in a struggling side. We have more pressing issues at RB and CF that need fixing in January.

My preference would be for Hart (but he won’t come cheap) for circa. £15m. Then again, if our owners are serious about us competing in the league we need to make this type of signing. Otherwise I would go for Begovic. Randolph would then be an excellent no.2.

I think Liverpool are lining Hart up Richie, he would be my preference too but should Hart not be available I would like to see us try and get Pickford from Sunderland at the end of the season, he is obviously very young but so far he has looked excellent in a poor side without him Sunderland would have been stranded at the bottom of the league. It’s a shame about Adrian, he has a great personality and a good character but he has been noticeably worse since his wife gave birth to their first child, anyone can understand this of course his focus being elsewhere if that is the case but it has been detrimental to our season he has cost us points rather than gaining them.
