Whilst much of the transfer gossip surrounding West Ham over the last few days has focused on players arriving at the club, it also seems the recruitment department is getting busy trying to offload a few of the unwanted.

And it would certainly appear that 2024/25 Hammer of the Year Aaron Wan-Bissaka falls into that category.

Because, according to the Mail Online, West Ham have offered AWB to none other than Arsenal.

One Of The Stranger Rumours

I have to admit, it does seem one of the more odd and unbelievable rumours doing the rounds over recent days.

Scratch below the surface, though, and it’s worth remembering Wan-Bissaka is coming off the back of a decent World Cup and was once a £50 million footballer when he moved from Crystal Palace to Manchester United.

Quite where he fits into Arsenal’s plans is another matter.

Mikel Arteta already appears well stocked at right-back and has often shown a preference for using centre-backs in the full-back positions.

All of which makes this one of the least likely transfer rumours I’ve heard this summer.

Could There Be Something In It?

That said, the Mail reports that the Gunners have not dismissed the offer out of hand, so perhaps there is at least some consideration being given to the proposal.

If true, it would also be interesting to know how many other clubs have been offered the services of Wan-Bissaka.

Perhaps if the Hammers are really looking to sweeten the deal, they could always throw in a “buy one Aaron Wan-Bissaka, get one Niclas Füllkrug free” offer.
