West Ham appear to be ramping up their search for a replacement for Crysencio Summerville as reports pop up suggesting new names ‘linked’or ‘in talks’ with the Hammers’ recruiters.
Latest to be named is another Premier League player – this one considerably more pacy than Everton’s Dwight McNeil – and would seem to offer further evidence that the Hammers are indeed being true to Nuno’s words about raising the bar in terms of the quality they seek to recruit this summer.
According to staceywest.net West Ham’s recruiters have already held talks with Sunderland’s Simon Adingra:
“West Ham United are among the clubs showing interest in Sunderland winger Simon Adingra, with discussions said to have taken place over a possible move. The 24-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at AS Monaco after falling out of the first-team picture at Sunderland.

Ivorian Simon Adingra is a fringe Sunderland player
Adingra joined Sunderland last summer, but his time on Wearside did not develop as expected under Regis Le Bris. Monaco are understood to be keen on taking him back on loan, but West Ham have now emerged as a possible destination after holding talks over a deal.”
Adingra seems exactly the profile of player who may be prepared to drop down a division to see his career reboot but other clubs are seen to be interested in the Ivory Coast International, including newly promoted sides Hull City and Ipswich Town.
Adingra is not short of overseas suitors, with the same report claiming:
“RB Leipzig and AS Roma are among the European clubs said to be monitoring the situation. Adingra was part of the Ivory Coast squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2023, when he was also named the tournament’s best young player.”
Which on the face of it presents the familiar challenge which the Irons will likely face all summer, trying to recruit players from the margins of the top divisions and convincing them to join for a monumental scrap in the second tier.
