Westley: Moyes won’t be pushed

|

Former academy director and exclusive CandH blogger Terry Westley is the latest to make it clear that David Moyes will stick with what he’s got this summer unless he finds a top striker.

But he has made it clear that it is important that everything possible is done to find a forward to challenge Michail Antonio for the place up top assuming we are going to play one up.

He believes that in Issa Diop the club has a central defender who can be relied on to produce the goods when required should the manager fail in his bid  to find a central defender.

But he said: “We are okay across the back as far as I can see with Fredericks and Johnson also available while in midfield we are fine.

“With so many competitions this season Mark Noble will be important in midfield and Conor Coventry looks set for games but the forward position is a problem.

If Antonio gets injured  we really do have a problem and I’m sure David will be doing everything possible to find a top striker.

However, he has said he won’t buy just for the same of buying and I think I know him well enough to understand that to be the case. I don’t see him buying anyone simply for the sake of it – they have to be able to challenge for a first team place.”
