Wilshere set for big season with Declan’s help

|

Jack Wilshere – as mentioned several times since yesterday – is looking very good indeed and given no injury interventions will undoubtedly be a key player for us this season.

It’s a big if of course but I’m in optimistic mood today – probably on account of the return of or West Ham Way brand – and I honestly believe he and the other midfielders are going to have very big seasons.

As he points out in his latest set of quotes sitting deep with Declan in the holding role allows him to get forward that much more and that’s perfect for him with the side getting the best of both worlds.

At his best there are few better in the PL and Pelle has spoken many many times of how highly he rates him and of the value it could prove to the Hammers this campaign.

We have him in contract for another two years and if he could rise to his injury free best, Jack Wilshere could be as important and more so than any player in that area of the field.

And speaking @https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/august/04-august/goals-intensity-and-focus-jack-wilshere-sets-his-targets-new he said: “We’ve got players who you know, if you give the ball to them, they’re going to keep it and make something happen. They’re going to give you it back and move into a better space.

“When we play behind the [opposition] midfield and in front of the defence, we’ve got players like Manu, Felipe and Pablo who can make things happen.

“For me as well playing in the deeper midfield role is nice because nine times out of ten Dec [Rice] is going to sit in there and allow me to go forward and get into the box.

“I said before that I wanted to score more goals and this pre-season I’ve been getting in the box a little bit more and I’m trying to add that to my game. We’ve got players who can create things and with Dec behind me it gives me that insurance.

“I need to get in the box more and I did that on Saturday and thankfully it came off and hopefully there will be some more this year.”

Hugh you must be related to Wilshere somehow, I certainly am not lol lol. I hope you are right and he proves me wrong but if he starts the first few games and we lose them then nothing has changed from my perspective. No legs means we will be overrun in midfield. From what I have seen in preseason he has done well first half but then fades completely, looking forward to being proved wrong. I have given up on asking the club to buy the two players I believe are needed. The teams around us like Everton and Wolves have bought better than we have and then you have teams like Aston Villa who will push us big time. Disappointing summer by and large. Blame Husillos and owners

Let’s hope he stays fit ..I love your optimism Hugh but I really do think there is a lot of ifs, we are relying on keeping key players fit which would be great and if that was the case then yes I think we could have a great season…but if we get injuries to haller or Wiltshire or any number of our top players, what then , it’s a very long season and I’m afraid we havnt got the quality right through the squad to cope loosing our best players and that’s were the problem is ..it comes back to investing again IMO.. To challenge top six you need quality back up as well, maybe not in every position but most …let’s hope we have better luck with injuries this season…..

Wilshire is a great player at his best , looking fit and hopefully will get some goals this year . Had my hopeful £20 at 50/1 on top 4 finish 😂😂

Let’s not get overexcited , top six is not possible unless the defence is sorted out . Investment in defence is vital in order to compete . COYI ⚒

Agree mark people are getting carried away.
I would love to get in the top six but i think i think it’s beyond us at the moment.
If i’m wrong i will eat my hat!

See Everton in for the Watford midfielder, imagine having him in our team. I just don’t understand what Pelle and Husillos are looking at any more. We play fast counter attacking football, we have no midfielder who can get into the opposition box consistently, we have spent 45m on a CF who has no pace and we have no pace on one wing. I just don’t get what he is doing. I think the previous poster should have put his 20 on Pelle being the first manager sacked as I can’t see it anymore.

Playing with the Cards we have been dealt so far makes me wonder if Snoddy is the box to box hard man we need in front of Rice. He is tireless and Noble hasnt made it through pre-season and we all know Sanchez cant do any of it.
Now build our attacking MF to support the one striker option Pelle seems to prefer.
    Just say’n.
