Wonderful night as the mighty Hammers win big

The Moyesian counter attack was temporarily put on hold for the first 20 minutes or so. Quick out of the traps and scoring from their third corner, with Soucek flicking it on at the near post. Paqueta, completely unmarked tapped in. The London Stadium erupted with joy!

Then after a half an hour so, the tireless Antonio dummies a pass and Bowen races onto it behind. He shrugs off a challenge, steadies himself on the edge of the area, and arrows a low shot into the bottom right corner beyond Atubolu! Great finish, and a lovely little assist from Antonio.
Jarrod Bowen‘s goal was his tenth for West Ham United in Europe, taking him clear of Michail Antonio and making him our record continental goalscorer.

And it got better! Just after half time a header from Ginter falls to Coufal, who played Bowen into the space vacated by the left-back. His cut-back is to Cresswell via a defender. He takes a touch to get the ball out of his feet then places it between two Freiburg players and just inside the right-hand post.

His first goal in 59 games !
Then on the 78th minute an extraordinary goal -. Kudus picks the ball up outside his own penalty area, skips around Eggestein, drives into Freiburg’s half. He puts Philipp in a blender, turning this way and that, nutmegs another defender on the edge of the area and finishes calmly past Atubolu with his weaker right foot! Ridiculous!
And the cherry on the cake was another brilliant goal, finished by Kudus, but this is was a team effort. Kudus starts the move with a neat dummy, Soucek drives forward unchallenged. He squares the ball to Bowen, who lays the ball off first time and Kudus lets fly again from the edge of the area, wrong footing Atubolu and making it five.
What a fabulous evening !
