Worrying Moyes noises over Bowen

|

I hope David Moyes is playing it cute over whether or not to play Jarrod Bowen against Manchester City tonight by not giving away anything important over his likely team.

Sadly, I’m not too sure that’s the case because the truth is he didn’t need to say anything at all about the new signing other than that he was doing well in training.

That he chose to add apparent reservations about whether he would be involved in the game suggest sadly that he may be returning to he cautious brand of management for which he is often accused.

If, as he says, the guy has been performing admirably on the training ground -a view backed by Mark Noble in another recent interview – surely there can be few reasons for not handing him his debut.

It’s not as though there’s an awful lot to lose at City where the guy may just prove the spark the Irons need when we can manage to get possession.

If the idea is to park the bus then the near inevitable outcome will be  defeat – possibly a heavy one.

There is no need to keep Bowen on a leash and we are not overly expectant that anything other than defeat will come tonight so it’s not as though the guy’s under a lot of pressure.

Just play him Moyes!

Our team: Fabianski; Fredericks, Diop, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Noble, Rice, Soucek; Snodgrass, Bowen Antonio.

Can’t help but think Moyes is a clown on this one…. the guy will lose his sharpness if he isn’t played. Although I can’t agree with you Hugh – the point of parking the bus is to protect goal difference and not get defeated by too many.

    • Kevin says:

Agreed, but only on the basis that a better goal difference could end up being our savior .
Sill think we should go for it though .

  • Hammer0 says:

Negative. He never plays more than 2 offensive players on pitch at same time. Expect Haller and Antonio to start. Replaced by Bowen and Anderson when 3 nil down, and we had not been in City half all match. Repeat for every match. Unbelievable he was ever reappointed

  • keith astley says:

Guessing he will be sub and replace Antonio when he runs out of steam at 70 minutes.

  • Beatz says:

He needs match time quick the team has had a break and i would imagine he is dying to get on it. To me it doesn’t matter if we lose by 1 or 10 goals but impotant how him and Soucek fair in a match where we are expected to lose. Only my opinion.
    COME ON YOU IRONS

How often does “Park the bus” work, one in ten maybe.I would go for it and play Ant & Bowen either side of Haller, try and surprise Citeh.Moyes is dour and unimaginative,i think he will play one up top who is isolated.

First off been a hammer since I was 3 years old, I’m now 66. Please tell me why that idiot buys a striker and then not play him.
The man is not a West ham manager and please ask the board to explain this decision.
      Because it’s beyond me.

I hope it’s all smoke and mirrors. He threw the young lad in at right back against Liverpool after all. We have to go for it. Even shot-shy Palace have gone to the Etihad and stuck FIVE goals past City in the last two seasons.
I’m of the school of thought that if the ball is in the opposition’s goal area, it’s a long way from your own COYI!!!

  • David Hughes says:

Come on Moyes, man up, let’s go for it.
Give city a proper good scare. Absolutely agree, unleash Bowen from the start.
Win or lose against city, having a good go, rather than another inept performance, will surely help to build a little confidence.
    COYI

  • Adji says:

    This is my simple question:
If you can’t use him, why you bought him?
Can i called this a panic buy?

  • Whammer1 says:

I am not a Moyes knocker but for crying out loud he has to start him so all.the enthusiasm that he has shown in training ensures his goal as playing in the prem not as a bit part bench warmer. FFS David give him a chance to prove him self not as a sub when the game is out of reach..build a team..ok two tough games but I am sure he and the likes of Antonio and Anderson would want to give it a big shot..come on Mr Moyes most fans are chomping at the bit to see the prospect of a team that can get us out of the MIRE that we are in!!

  • Paul says:

have to agree the lad needs to play. Stick him up there in a front three of Bowen, Antonio and Anderson. Citys defence will not want to play against them. Lets stop worrying about what city can do to us and think about what we can do to them, their defence is not that good. I would rather go for it and lose than park the bus and still get battered 4 nil like in the past.

    • firefighterx says:

Totally agree.. d sRather go down atleast having ago..Parking the bus and still loosing by a hat full doesnt compute.. COYIs

    • Hammero says:

One attacker in line up. Moyes should go tonight if we get destroyed. He is clueless. Not knee jerk. I sat through 30 matches of this negativity 1st time round. Any decent manager would keep us up. We have Antonio Haller Antonio and Bowen as a possible front 2 and 2 wide. Moyes plays Masuaku, would be funny if not so serious

  • steve M says:

Haller has had his opportunity to show what he can bring to the team. So far it’s been no where good enough. It’s time to give Bowen his chance, he is an in form striker, lets not knock him down like so many other signings in the past.
Time for Haller to step aside for a while.

  • Dave says:

You may ask the old question.
Did the manager actually sign him, or was it a little present from Sullivan that Moyes didn’t want….
BFS said he would often turn up with a little present…..
I hope he plays just off Antonio, haller benched for me,

  • George says:

It’s ,obviously, quite hard for Moyes to evaluate Bowen – Having, allegedly https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/02/19/report-explains-why-a-stunned-david-moyes-was-left-seething-by-w/page/1/ only seen him on Youtube!!

    • You miust be the one person here who thinks that particular scouting data would be useful George given everything

      • Hammero says:

As I said earlier, Moyes getting every excuse in early in case we go down. Hugh, you called my post nonsense. The only nonsense at moment is having Moyes as manager. His negativity is unbound
