Young striker denies West Ham deal

|

French teenage striker Alexandre Mlinde has denied joining the Hammers despite posting a photo of himself in a West Ham shirt on social media.

Last summer French news outlet Foot Mercato claimed that the Hammers are in talks with the 17-year-old’s representatives about a potential move to the London Stadium after his goalscoring record in lower league football last season caught the club’s attention. Mlinde plays for amateur club AS Minguettes, who are based the suburbs of Lyon, and he netted pretty much a goal every game last term as he scored 21 times in 22 appearances. In the season before that, he found the net 35 times, bringing his total for the past two years up to 56.

Questioned by a West Ham fan on his Instagram post, the teenager said he hasn’t signed for West Ham but it would but he would love to sign for the Academy and play for the U23’s or the first team. It appears his social post in the shirt was merely made a fan.
